Music

Mozart composed over 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, piano, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers.

Grieg was a Norwegian composer and pianist who composed in the romantic period. He is best known for his Piano Concerto in A minor, for his incidental music to Henrik Ibsen's play Peer Gynt. (which includes Morning Mood and In the Hall of the Mountain King), and for his collection of piano miniatures Lyric Pieces.

Holst wrote almost 200 catalogued compositions, including orchestral suites, operas, ballets, concertos, choral hymns, and songs.

Gounod was a French composer, best known for his Ave Maria as well as his operas Faust and Roméo et Juliette.

Female voice choir based in Sonning

After two or three rehearsals, you will be invited to have an informal meeting with Nicky to decide where your voice fits best.

We hope to have a classical based repertoire as well as Nicky’s own compositions.

Composers of music we have in our repertoire so far are Monteverdi, Gounod, Grieg, East and Holst. Additional details of the works of these composers can be found at the links below (just click on the composer’s name).

Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy was a German composer, pianist, organist and conductor of the early Romantic period.

Gabriel Urbain Fauré was a French composer, organist, pianist, and teacher. He was the foremost French composer of his generation, and his musical style influenced many 20th century composers. His harmonic and melodic language affected how harmony was later taught.

Sir Edward William Elgar was an English composer. He is known for such works as the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, The Dream of Gerontius, concertos for violin and cello, and two symphonies. He also composed oratorios, chamber music and songs.
