David Kirby-Ashmore
We are delighted to announce the appointment of David Kirby-Ashmore as our new musical director. He has had years of experience as a music teacher, performer and adjudicator, and is well known in the choral field. After studying at the Royal Academy of Music with the aid of a scholarship, David took up the post of Singing Teacher at the Arts Educational School. His performing career has included principal roles with English and Welsh National Operas as well as in Europe. In addition to performances in the major London venues such as The Queen Elizabeth Hall, and The National Portrait Gallery, David’s concert career has also taken him to countries all over the world, including Hong Kong, Indonesia and USA. His wide repertoire of Oratorio and concert works includes Bach’s St. John and St. Matthew passions, Messiah, Mozart, Brahms and Fauré Requiems. He has always maintained an interest in education and now adjudicates widely for the British and International Federation of Festivals and gives regular workshops and Master classes throughout the UK and Ireland. He joins Bel Canto Chorus in January 2011 and we look forward to be taken to another level under David’s direction. |
